ABOUT JERRY HANNAN
“Folk / Americana – with a slight Irish Lilt”
Singer-songwriter Jerry Hannan has spent decades captivating audiences with his soulful voice, sharp storytelling, and spirited performances that blend folk, rock, and Americana. Often performing under the banner Mad Hannans, Jerry’s music carries a distinctly Northern California spirit with a touch of his Irish roots.
Mad Hannans began in 1996 with Jerry and his brother Sean Hannan, whose debut album Madly in Love With You became a beloved local cult favorite. Sean’s legacy lives on through Jerry’s music and the award-winning documentary Mad Hannans, which tells the story of the brothers’ musical journey.
Jerry gained international recognition when his song “Society,” recorded with Eddie Vedder, appeared in Into the Wild. Another song written with Sean, “I Thought I Was You,” is also featured in the film.
Rooted in the Irish musical traditions of his San Francisco upbringing and inspired by songwriters like Bob Dylan, John Prine, and Cat Stevens, Hannan’s songs explore friendship, love, and the everyday magic of life with humor, warmth, and heart.
A longtime favorite across Northern California, Jerry’s shows are known for their intimate storytelling, sing-along spirit, and joyful connection with the audience.
ABOUT SECRET SONG CLUB
Welcome to Secret Song Club! We organize music parties, house concerts, and open mics in backyards and living rooms throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. We’re all about creating listening spaces where people can hear music with less background chatter. You don’t have to be a songwriter or a musician to attend. Everyone is welcome. All donations go to the featured performers or the charities at our benefit events. The only part of the club that’s secret is the location.
