ABOUT BRUCE KUNKEL
Bruce Kunkel is a singer-songwriter and founding member of the legendary Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. A high-school friend and early musical partner of Jeff Hanna, Kunkel helped form the band in Southern California in 1966, becoming part of the fertile folk-rock scene that also included a young Jackson Browne.
Kunkel sang and played guitar on the Dirt Band’s first two albums and penned the haunting “Song to Jutta” for their 1967 debut. His time with the group helped launch a band that would go on to become one of the enduring names in American roots, folk and country-rock music.
Today, Kunkel brings that remarkable musical history to the stage as a singer-songwriter, sharing songs and stories rooted in the formative days of the Southern California folk-rock movement.
ABOUT SECRET SONG CLUB
Welcome to Secret Song Club! We organize music parties, house concerts, and open mics in backyards and living rooms throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. We’re all about creating listening spaces where people can hear music with less background chatter. You don’t have to be a songwriter or a musician to attend. Everyone is welcome. All donations go to the featured performers or the charities at our benefit events. The only part of the club that’s secret is the location.
